November 6, 2017

1) shine (by Kate Maryon)

twelve year old Tiffany Morris is her mums best buddy until her mum gets sent to jail and Tiff realises that all the macbook and the 3 i pods and the fancy holidays she went on were all bought with stolen money.Tiff does not know anything about her family and has no where to stay, until her mum finds a way to contact her family who live on the island she ran away from when she was 17.Her sister Cass and her husband take Tiff to live with them.At first, she hates the country lifestyle on the island but when she meets her friends, isla, max and holly, she decides sark isn’t so bad after all.

i love the way it is written with tons of metaphors and there is never a dull moment.

2) Hetty feather

when Hetty was still a baby, her mother left her at the foundling hospitals she could not look after her anymore. Her and her foster brother gideon are taken to live in the countryside with their foster mother and father, and their amazing big brother Jem, and Saul and Martha, the other foster children. they have a lovely childhood, playing in their special squirrel house with Jem. but when Hetty was six, she had to go back to the founding hospital. With no friends, hetty is scared and sad, but a year or so later Polly, her best friend, joined the hospital.

spotted tusk fish -Erin B

November 5, 2017

the spotted tusk fish (which can only be as big as 14 inches) has recently astonished marinebioligists and proved scientist wrong on their theory of ‘fish having a five second memory’.Every morning, the spotted tusk fish travels to the same reef to find food. They use their powerful tusks lift things as large as logs and rocks to find shellfish underneath. if they are fortunate enough to get one, they will swim all the way home to their ‘special kitchen’ aka: a circular piece of coral, and swim inside. it could take many attempts , but the spotted tusk fish toys toys and toys again to open the shell by smashing it against the coral reef with it in its mouth.

chimpanzees heirarchy -Erin B

November 5, 2017

Chimpanzees have a hierarchy in their group.A hierarchy is like a ladder with the most dominant and strongest member of the group on the top and the smallest and weakest on the bottom. the highest on the ladder is the alpha male. their job is to control the group and fight of other groups that trespass in their groups environment. they also have advantages eg: best food, lots of grooming.they can also sometimes get aggressive and can bite into any chimps that get on their nerves. this usually happens when the other chimps do not use the respectful gestures like showing the alpha male their rear or putting their head into the alpha males mouth.(i know, weird right)

Hayao Miyazaki – by Eric

October 30, 2017

Hayao Miyazaki is a Japanese director, producer, screenwriter, anime artist and co-founder of Studio Ghibli. He obtained international credit as a skilful storyteller and is regarded as one of the greatest Japanese animators.

Born in Tokyo, January 5th 1941, Miyazaki loved animation from an early age. His career started in 1963 and he was subsequently involved in many Japanese animation classics.

Miyazaki earned attention for his outstanding drawing ability and seemingly endless ideas. In 1971, he worked at A Pro studio, then Nippon Animation, where he stayed for the next five years. In 1978, he directed his first series, Future Boy Conan (1978) , then his first movie, The Castle of Cagliostro, in 1979.

In 1984, he directed Nausicaä, based on the comic. The film’s success led to the creation of Studio Ghibli, where films enjoyed critical and box office success. Princess Mononoke (1997) received the Japanese equivalent of the Academy Award for Best Film, becoming the highest-grossing film in Japan’s history at that time.

Miyazaki also draws manga, his major work being Nausicaä (1982-1984), a magical and moral tale. Another of his manga stories, Hikoutei Jidai, evolved into the film Porco Rosso.

Miyazaki’s last film was Howl’s Moving Castle (2004) but hopefully new additions to his captivating portfolio will appear as I think he is one of the most influential characters in animation, creating a magical aura with his films.

Biography on Sir Alex Ferguson-by Aaron

October 30, 2017

Alex Ferguson was born in Glasgow in Scotland in 1941. He played as a forward for a number of Scottish clubs. In 1974, Alex Ferguson had his first job as a manager for a small club in the Scottish second division called East Stirlingshire. He was paid £40 per week. Following this he managed St Mirren from 1974 – 1978. During his period of management the team moved from the bottom of the second division, to first division champion. Ferguson was fired from this job and the chairman said that Ferguson had no management ability.

Ferguson joined Aberdeen as manager in 1978. In his second season of managing the club, Aberdeen won the league. This was the first time in 15 years that neither Celtic or Rangers had not won the league. In 1983, Aberdeen won the European Cup Winners Club. In 1983 – 1984 Aberdeen retained the Scottish title.

A number of English clubs offered Ferguson roles as managers of their clubs, including Wolverhampton Wanders and Spurs. Ferguson took the job at Manchester United in November 1986. At the time of his appointment, United were second from bottom. In the 1997 – 1998 season, United finished second. in 1989 – 1990 many fans called for Ferguson to be sacked as the team finished. In 1990 – 1991 there were still inconsistent performances and United finished sixth. In 1991 – 1992 United won the League Cup and the Uefa Club. In 1992 – 1993, United had a slow start to the season but the season improved when Ferguson bought Eric Cantona from Leeds for £1.2 million. That season United won their first Premier League title.  This success was repeated in 1993  – 1994 when United won the Premier League Title again. Criticisms were made of Ferguson in 1995, when three famous players left and no new signings were made. Ferguson decided to rely on young players including Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Nicky Butt, Phil Neville and David Beckham. Ferguson went on to win a further six Premier League titles with his young players, including in 1998 – 1999 the treble: Premier League Title; FA Cup and Champions League.

By the time Ferguson retired in 2013, Ferguson had won 49 trophies at Manchester United. This included 13 Premier League Titles and under his reign, United won the Champion League trophy twice. This makes him the most successful manager ever.

school council (help the homeless) – By Erin B

October 29, 2017

as you might know, i was elected school council a couple of weeks ago.I have been thinking really hard for ideas and i have some up with a plan to help the homeless.

for a start, there will be a food bank in the office, which you can add to as much or little as you want, it is completely up to you and your family. hopefully, i can get letters sent home to see which parents would like to volunteer on some Fridays – that is when it gets emptied and handed to the homeless of Manchester. i already know that my daddy, mummy and close friend, Helen, have already aggress to help on Fridays. The kind of stuff that you can bring is crisps, canned fruit in tins you can open with your hands, bread and butter if you are quite near Friday, drinks, nuts ad dried fruit and basically anything that you can open with your hands and is still ok to eat by Friday.

i think we should also have an own clothes day where you can bring in a donation of your choice to wear your own clothes for the day.
